Inspection of County Flood Control Property and City Road for Future Channel Improvements

PARTIAL LANE AND TRAIL CLOSURES REQUIRED


ACTIVITY SUMMARY

OC Public Works staff and contractors will be performing geotechnical investigations on Anniversary Lane (along the Santa Ana-Delhi Channel) in the City of Newport Beach and nearby County Flood Control Channel property. The purpose is to investigate soil conditions along the channel in preparation for a future channel improvement project.

 

WHAT

Project personnel and small equipment will be present along the channel area. A drill rig will be used to collect soil samples at various locations within the future project area. This activity is in preparation for a future project to improve the Santa Ana-Delhi Channel to allow the continued flow of water through the channel.

 

WHEN

August 1-5, 2022
Working Hours: 8 a.m.—4 p.m.

The construction schedule is tentative and subject to change due to weather and other factors.

 

WHERE

Geotechnical investigations will occur at several locations along the County maintenance road within this area, including near the Bayview Trail pedestrian bridge and along Anniversary Lane as highlighted in blue on the map in the PDF notice below.

Pay close attention to signage/crews as you pass these work areas:
• Public access across the Bayview Trail pedestrian bridge will remain open, but may require a partial closure.
• Anniversary Lane will remain open for traffic, but temporary closure of the channel-side lane will be necessary.
