Orange County Public Works Appoints New Deputy Director of Planning
SANTA ANA, CA – The Orange County Public Works Department has announced the appointment of Richard J. “Rick” Sandzimier as Deputy Director, OC Planning.
Sandzimier possesses 28+ years of experience in municipal operations, community development, public works, grants/ funding and strategic planning. He comes to OC Public Works with experience in both the public and private sector, and most recently, his own consultant firm.
His experience includes working for the City of San Juan Capistrano and the University of California/Irvine. Sandzimier served for 19 years with the City of Irvine and served for seven years there as the Project Development Administrator. In the private sector, he was the senior planning manager at Parsons Brinckerhoff where he directed planning functions, guided business development, client relations and fostered collaborative relationships with stakeholders throughout the region.
Sandzimier holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Ecology (Urban/Environmental Planning) from the University of California/Irvine. He is active on the Orange County Workforce Investment Board, and has professional affiliations with the American Planning Association, Urban Land Institute, and the American Institute of Certified Planners.
Sandzimier begins his assignment on June 28, 2013.
